Productivity Tip for You

One quick productivity tip for you today!  One might think that since I work from home, running an online business, that I  just stay in pajamas or sweats all day.  For me, pajamas and sweats don’t make me feel like working.   My productivity tip for entrepreneurs like myself, especially those that work from home, is to dress for the occasion, meaning dress for work, even if you aren’t leaving the house.

This morning after taking my boys on a walk, I took a quick shower and put on a cute dress that I know makes me feel good and ready to work.   It was while working at Powder Blue Productions for Bret and Chalene Johnson that I learned firsthand about dressing for your mindset.  Even though we were a workout based company and rarely had other people come into the office, former owners Bret and  Chalene wanted us to dress nice in the office.  When you dress for business or work, you tend to be more productive than if you just put on something comfy like sweats.

When you are dressed and feel confident, the rest of your day will follow. Think about how different clothes make you feel and how different you carry yourself when you are wearing certain clothes.  Or how your confidence level changes in different outfits, we all have those certain outfits that make us feel good and ready to take on whatever the day has in store for us.   I have found that my work from home style definitely affects my productivity mindset. Sore Muscles and How to Avoid

I just taught Turbo Kick and one thing I do religiously is take a post workout drink to make sure my muscles recover and are less likely to be sore. The number one thing to do within 15-45 minutes of a hard workout or a hard day is to drink a post workout drink to replenish your proteins and carbohydrates. This will refuel your body and help repair your body which means your body will feel less sore.

One of the best ways I have found to fight fatigue and reduce muscle soreness is to drink a post workout drink to replace the nutrients your body has burned through during your workout. By doing so, you are helping yourself get through the day, along with  upcoming days.

How I Eat Healthy on the Go

I have a super busy day ahead of me, if you follow me at all, you know that I have been helping with the filming of Chalene Johnson’s new educational program called the One3One diet. I normally work from home, but I feel so blessed to be able to help with the filming of this new program.

The days have the potential to run long, so I have had to make sure I prepare myself so I can sustain my energy and health. So, when I made my shake today, I added a fiber boost along with a power green boost, knowing that it would likely be a long day. I also added a banana so I have my greens covered, along with fiber and fruits.

Right now, I am running a support group to help people with healthy eating. I often get questions about what to do when you are traveling or when you know you have a long day ahead. I’ve developed these practices throughout the years and wanted to share with you some of the ways you can eat healthy on the go.

A lot of time my husband and I attend personal development and business conferences and if you add up all the time it takes to get to and from the event, along with the actual conference, you are looking at being away from home like 14 hours. What I normally try to do is pack nuts, protein bar, dried cranberries, normally a banana.

I also carry a shake with me that I could mix up if I can’t find a healthy alternative. Pack things that don’t need refrigerated so they will last throughout the day. Eat a big breakfast and bring with you healthy snacks that will keep you from grabbing something unhealthy during your those long days. Always carry water with you.

Those are the tips I have for preparing for a long day ahead. I would love to hear from you what kind of tips you have. How to Make Your New Year Resolutions Stick

I have a hot topic to you today on how to make your New Year Resolutions stick.  You may be from the camp that I used to sit in, where you say to yourself, “I don’t make resolutions because they don’t work.”  Do you feel that way?  If you do, then I’m going to challenge you a little bit.

I used to not make resolutions because I was nervous I was going to fail at them.  So, until I really started diving deep into how goal setting works and how to really go after a goal, even if it seems lofty or large, or really unattainable until I really dove in and figured out how goal setting actually works, I wasn’t brave enough to take the steps to make those huge, seemingly impossible goals but I’m going to let you in on a secret, people with written goals achieve way more than if not written

Have you heard the saying, a goal not written down is just a dream?  It is so true, because you can’t really go after something if it is not clearly defined.Here are a few tips I have for you for making your New Year Resolutions stick.  Your goal needs to be as clearly defined as possible, meaning you’ve thought about it and brainstormed about it.  Brainstorm all the things you are thinking about with regards to what you want to accomplish.  Write it all down, often times you aren’t quite sure what it is you really want until you start writing everything out. Think about what you don’t want, a lot of times this will help you really figure out what it is you DO want

Once you figure out what it is you really want, I want you to think about how it will feel once you achieve it. Explore why you want it, how it will make feel, and if you were to achieve it/obtain it will it be a long term benefit for you and your family.  This exercise really helps you clearly define and state what you really want.  It helps your brain move in the direction of what you really want and what needs to be done.  So much of what we do comes from our subconscious, so it is important to put our subconscious mind to work for us and not against us.  

Define what you want and what you don’t want, why you want it and then how it is going to make you feel.  To help you with this I have an acronym that makes it easy for you to define a SMART goal.  The acronym SMART lays out certain ideas that will make your goal more achievable.

S (Specific) The more specific you can make your goal the easier it will be to achieve it.

M (Measurable) There needs to be some type of number associated with it that can be measured.  For example, if you want to pay off debt, you need to know the number amount in order to be able to track your progress.

A (Action-Oriented) You need to be able to list the action steps needed to reach goal.

R (Realistic) Is it a realistic goal for you to be working towards?

T (Time Bound) There needs to be a time limit on when you reach your goal.  If you don’t have a time where you want to reach your goal by, it’s less likely you will achieve it.

Things I’ve Had to Overcome

All of the things that should have stopped me in this business include moving, having two babies, gain and lost weight, planned a wedding, lost family members, a big one was the loss of my dear sweet dog Dixie. She had been the only constant in my life during the trying years of change.

I had gone from Vice President of a major corporation to being not really being responsible for anything but being a mom and this business. I have struggled with postpartum and continue to battle it to this day. I have had to find and become a part of three different churches, and have had to go to therapy to help deal with these on various levels.

All these could have been huge excuses for me to quit, throw in the towel. I am sure that you have experienced some obstacles that may have put the thought in your head to just stop what you are doing and just give up.

It is during these times that I encourage you to dive in. Don’t Give Up. This is the time where you need to make things happen despite the obstacles you may be facing. This could relate to all different areas of your life, personal or business.

One quick productivity tip for you today!   For entrepreneurs like myself, especially those that work from home, get up and get dressed for work, even if you aren’t leaving the house.  One might think that since I work from home, I don’t have to worry about what I wear.  I have found, while working my home based business, that I am much more productive when I am dressed for my work day ahead.
