A Daily Devotional

DailyEver feel like you don’t have time for a Daily Devotion with God? No one is perfect and I am guilty of feeling like this myself from time to time. Or, perhaps spending time with God simply slipped your mind for a week, month, or even years… It happens. Quiet Time

Young woman reading bibleIf you’re anything like me, the thought of sitting in silence for any length of time is down-right scary. I remember the first time I experienced quiet time. It was the most unnatural thing! I remember sitting on a large rock at Bible Camp and thinking, “Ok… how long do I need to sit here and “connect with God?”  I’ve always been an over-achiever and I’m so Type A that I tend to believe that if I ever stop moving, I just may die on the spot; or like God will look down on me with disdain if He knew I was just sitting on a rock (and not “accomplishing anything real”); trying to connect with him when all I felt was that I was an utter failure at doing so. No lightning bolts, no grand epiphanies, no giant signs or miracles. It was just me, sitting in nature, attempting to connect with God on a deeper level.

Filter Your Life

FilterEver feel like life is draining your patience and seemingly working against your faith? Whether we recognize it or not we have “drains” on our faith that can be harmful unless identified. Sometimes we don’t want to see certain things or people in our lives as a strain which can make it even harder to identify. Drains can come in all forms and sometimes may surprise us: friends, work, media, possessions, money and sometimes family. Are there any parts of your life that work against your relationship with God? This is a question that only you can answer, perhaps in a quiet time.
