Things I’ve Had to Overcome

All of the things that should have stopped me in this business include moving, having two babies, gain and lost weight, planned a wedding, lost family members, a big one was the loss of my dear sweet dog Dixie. She had been the only constant in my life during the trying years of change.

I had gone from Vice President of a major corporation to being not really being responsible for anything but being a mom and this business. I have struggled with postpartum and continue to battle it to this day. I have had to find and become a part of three different churches, and have had to go to therapy to help deal with these on various levels.

All these could have been huge excuses for me to quit, throw in the towel. I am sure that you have experienced some obstacles that may have put the thought in your head to just stop what you are doing and just give up.

It is during these times that I encourage you to dive in. Don’t Give Up. This is the time where you need to make things happen despite the obstacles you may be facing. This could relate to all different areas of your life, personal or business.

Learn How to Multitask

Here I am riding my stationary bike and thinking about all the things I can do while I have 30-45 minutes where my body is busy, but my mind is free. I could listen to personal development, audios, catch up on emails and text messages or listen to music. How to effectively multitask is something so many of us try to master, but often does not seem to work to our advantage.

One thing I learned when I first started building my own personal business is to make the most of the time where you can feed your mind with knowledge while your body is busy doing other things. Anytime you are doing something where you can be listening to personal development while still accomplishing something is key.

While you are working out, cleaning the house, doing laundry, you can also be filling your mind with knowledge. Turn your car into a learning university and listen to audiobooks, podcasts, anything that will fill your brain with messages that empower you. This is how you can effectively multitask and get more done and of course, you can achieve so much more when you are feeding your mind with great information.

I want to live a full life, full of meaning with more fun and less stress. A life of mediocrity is not something that appeals to me and should not sound good to anyone. I tell people all the time that multitasking is a myth, I used to think that to become more successful I needed to learn to multitask better. What I have found is that you can only truly focus on one thing at a time.

There is only one way to actually multitask, it is to combine a mindless activity with a mindful activity. Whenever your body is occupied, you can be filling your mind with personal development and bettering yourself from the inside out. What can not be done is reading emails or answering texts while listening to audio, you can’t focus on two things that use your brain at the same time.

To give yourself a competitive edge, you need to fill your mind with knowledge that will help you achieve your goals. Think about all the times where you can combine a mindless activity with a mindful activity and even if it is just ten minutes a day, just start filling your mind with knowledge.

Give Yourself Permission To Rise

What does success look like to you? Do you feel successful or have you settled into a routine that made you put your dreams on hold? Think about the dreams and goals you have for your life, have you reached them all? Have you pushed some aside, have you settled or don’t feel you deserve anything else or better? Brendon Burchard, author, and motivational speaker, often speaks on the topics of success and performance at the next level. He reminds us to always look beyond our current circumstances, if you want to become more you must raise your ambitions and refuse to settle. The past is behind you, leave it there and focus on what you can do today to have success in your future. Is it setting aside more time to work your side business? Is it exercising on a more consistent basis? Is it something related to a personal goal that always seemed so out of reach?
