Is Meal Planning Important?

Hi, my name is Holly Hierman. Today we’re gonna talk about the importance of pre-planning your meals.

Now whether your result is weight loss or it’s just maintenance. Maybe you’ve reached your goal or you’re close to your goal, whatever it is. We all know the answer to being successful at anything is planning! Right? Because that’s where most people fail. They fail before they even start because, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I’m sure you’ve heard that before.

So my tip for you today is all about pre-planning your meals or at least making sure that you have food ready, easy to grab and on-hand so you know exactly what you’re gonna eat for the days ahead. Now that might sound kinda boring but if you think about your daily eating habits: more than likely you’re eating pretty much the same thing for breakfast, you tend to have a time you normally go for your snack. You have a certain set of items that you typically get for lunch! We are creatures of habit and I am just here to let you know all we need to do is change those habits into a little more positive, a little more healthier choices!

So here’s an example of the way I plan out my meals. For instance, after we go shopping, (greek yogurt is something I have every single day because it’s a really great source of lean protein). I love it! After we get it, I measure out my portion sizes and I put it in little Tupperware containers. And then they’re all ready to go! I don’t have to measure again, I don’t have to take the time to get my little scooper out and measure every time I’m gonna have a portion, I just have them ready to go and stacked!

I like to pick Sundays for my pre-planning because it’s just easier for me. Most people want to start things on a Monday so typically there’s not too much going on. When the baby’s napping, it’s really simple to get all of my planning out of the way.

Another thing that we do is that we make it a habit to buy a ton of vegetables and we just cook them all on the same day! Just a ton! I’m talking cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, carrots. We cook a ton of vegetables and we have all of those ready to go, easy to grab, right in the refrigerator so it’s super, super simple. It’s a no-brainer whenever we’re putting a meal together, I know I’m gonna have two servings of vegetables with this meal. It’s very simple just to grab stuff that’s already packed and ready to go for you!

So that is the biggest tip I have for you…to pre-plan! Maybe that means that you’re spending every Sunday measuring out certain items and maybe you’re spending the time cooking your vegetables or cooking meat, or cooking brown rice or whatever it is. But making sure you have all of those healthy foods, readily available so that all you have to do is grab them and go. It is critically important to your success!
So I wanna wish you the best of success and if you liked this video, please feel free to leave a comment. Hopefully I’ll talk to you soon! Bye bye!
