Self Care Time Saving Tips for Busy Moms

Today I want to share with you some time saving tips I use to make sure I take care of myself without neglecting my kids.  I am a busy mom of a 3 year old and a 1 year old and as much as I love being a mom… let’s get real for a minute they can be a handful.

I don’t like to spend too much time on myself, including my workouts. All this without taking too much time away from my family. My top three tips for making sure you get your workouts in, feel good about yourself, without taking too much time away from your family are listed below.

Tip #1– Wash your hair every 2-3 days. I use dry shampoo on the days that I don’t wash my hair and I do my hair in cute styles, such as braids and cute up-dos. When I used to color my hair a lot, hairstylists would tell me that it really wasn’t good to wash your hair everyday.

Tip #2– Save time with your makeup. I sweat like crazy, especially when I am teaching fitness classes, but I have three products that work well for me and they last a long time. I wash my entire face and go heavy with makeup on the first day and then will wash my face, while avoiding my eye area.  This leaves my eye makeup good for another day at least.  There is ten minutes saved each day by not applying eye makeup.

Tip #3– Dealing with your workouts and what to do if you have little ones at home. If you are fortunate enough to belong to a health club that offers a kids club, then put the kids in there and get at least a 30 minute workout in while the kids are in the kids club.  If this is not an option for you, I would suggest a stroller walk with the kids, I often take my kids with me in the double stroller.

Figure out how you can save time and not feel frumpy at the same time. I do like to get up and get dressed, I know I feel better if I am wearing a dress, even though I am a stay at home mom. For me, it makes me feel better about myself. Make sure you don’t give up on yourself! Make sure you take time for yourself even if it means you are taking your kids with you to make time for you. Try to exercise at least 10-20 minutes at least five days a week.

Don’t give up on yourself just because you are a busy mom, use these time saving tips to look and feel good about yourself.
