How Kari Was Able to Quit Her Job

My story starts when my daughter was born 10 years ago.

I never wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, never thought that that was my plan or my journey. Both of my parents worked, my mom worked for the state, my dad was a pool plumber so I just figured that was part of my journey…then my daughter was born!

When I had to go back to work, I remember crying every single night for 6 months straight because I was devastated I had to leave her. Even though she was being babysat by family, there was still that ache inside my heart. I knew that it had to change. I HAD to be home with her. So, I decided to start my own business. I didn’t really know what kind of business but I was hoping this would be the solution.

I was teaching fitness classes but never thought fitness was part of my journey. I liked teaching Turbo because I liked being on stage and the music reminded me of cheer music.

I decided to start making bows and selling them on ebay but that wasn’t really working. Then I opened a birth announcement company and that didn’t work either! I thought, “What am I gonna do???”

So right around that same time I was talking with my good friend, Holly and she invited me to a Beachbody meeting. She knew I was struggling and I wanted to be home with my daughter and at the time she didn’t even know what it was gonna be all about but thought I should be there. So I went!

That day my husband, who is the biggest skeptic in the world looked at me and said, “You’re signing up!” I said, “OK.” So I did!!

Was it a get rich quick scheme? Not at all!! I had to work my tail off! I was working full time, I had a baby, I had a husband and I was working in fitness. I would get up early in the morning to do my work out and to talk to my customers. I’d work all day long and during my lunch breaks, it was work time.

I’d listen to calls, do my homework, call customers and follow up. I’d get home, do family things and then when everyone was asleep, I’d work some more. I would go to bed, midnight, 2 o’clock in the morning and get up an hour early the next day and do it all again. I did that for about 3 years. Also during this time, my son was born so that was even more motivation to put the pedal to the metal.

Finally I was able to quit my full time job and Beachbody is now my full source of income. Since I quit the life insurance accounting job, where I felt like the walls of my cubicle were closing in on me, I’ve actually tripled my income.

I am now home with my kids, working part time hours and making full time income!
