Goal Achievement Tip

Hi! Holly Hierman here! Today I want to talk to you about the key…the secret ingredient to achieving any goal you set out to achieve.

The secret, my friends is momentum! It’s the little things that you choose to do or choose not to do every single day that’s going to either move you closer to your goal or keep you from reaching your goal.

Think about your favorite artist or movie star…we think that success happens to them overnight. Or maybe think about someone you know that’s very successful in the corporate world or business industry. We believe that maybe they were born that way: that they just woke up and they were at the top of the ladder. That’s what we think in our minds!

What we fail to recognize, is the hard work and dedication that went in Every. Single. Day. in order to get them to the place they want to be.

So momentum, my friends, is the key to achieving anything in your life. It is the little teeny, tiny decisions that you choose to make each and everyday that’s going to move you closer or keep you farther away from your goal. Because you’re always going in one direction, you’re either going up or going down. You’re either getting closer to your goal or farther away. And it’s all about the little, teeny, tiny decisions that determine where we end up 1 year from now, 5 years or even 10 years from now!

I want to encourage you today! Maybe you’ve created a massive list of things you want to achieve and maybe you’ve even taken one of those goals and made a brain dump. I hope you’ve done this. So, whenever you have a goal you want to make a brain dump of all the actions that will move you toward that goal. Then you organize the list. Figure out the 1st thing you need to do, then the 2nd, 3rd, etc… You take it step by step, moving toward that goal.

Again, your dreams will fall flat and die if you don’t make a decision to keep the momentum going. Even if it’s just 2 things, 2 little activities each and every day that you can check off your to-do list (aka brain dump), you will move closer to your goal!

I want you to think about a plane. If a plane takes off from New York and it’s final destination is Los Angeles, if it has a direct flight, it will get there relatively quickly. Now if the plane chooses to stop in each and every state, then what happens? You waste all that time and energy getting up into the air, then all that time and energy coming back down. And then what do you have to do? You have to take off again!

So every time you start and stop, you lose your momentum and it takes a lot more effort in order to get going again! It’s important that you just keep the ball rolling.

Imagine you’re pushing a boulder up a hill. Every single time you decide to stop and take a break, that boulder is going to roll down to the bottom again. But if every day you just take a few steps up that hill, eventually once you get to the top, it’s going to create some momentum and eventually it’s going to take off and start to ride on its own.

That’s what momentum is about my friends! It’s about consistency and doing little, teeny, tiny things each and every day to move you toward your big goal.
